"Aqua Project: Our Neighborhood Calls for Help!". This project is the hope of students and community of Jardim Brasil, in Olinda, Pernambuco.

Because of the constant flooding, on the days of heavy rains, students are unable to attend classes due to the large volume of water on the streets that give access to the school.

Results: The school calendar almost always needs to be altered so that students are not harmed, neighborhood houses are damaged, dirt spreads in the streets and diseases such as Dengue and leptospirosis affect adults and children.

Tired of the disregard of the authorities and the lack of education of some citizens who throw trash in the streets, in the culverts, cancellations, putting garbage and landed the 3 (three) lagoons of the neighborhood of Jardim Brasil, Professor Wellington Genuíno Dourado, decided to elaborate a plan to deal with flooding.

Initially Professor Wellington launched the project proposal that came to be called Aqua: our neighborhood calls for help !, AQUA is a Latin term meaning water.

Results:

The results of the studies were delivered to the City Hall of Olinda, Pernambuco Secretariat of Education and Education Department of the Ministry of Education, in order to collect viable and immediate solutions and show the commitment of teachers, students and residents in the struggle to save and preserve the Jardim Brasil neighborhood

It was produced a blog www.projetoaqua.blogspot.com, with photos, videos and results of the project, being shown to the students, community and Public Power.

We pioneered the use of mobile devices and blogs, such as didactic material (2007), in community field surveys and converting their videos and photos for classroom viewing or blogging.
